CMIS 2009-01-22 Software Content Management Interoperability Services (CMIS) is a standards proposal consisting of a set of Web services for sharing information among disparate content repositories that seeks to ensure interoperability for people and applications using multiple content repositories. CMIS provides a Web services interface that: 1) Is designed to work over existing repositories enabling customers to build and leverage applications against multiple repositories -- unlocking content they already have; 2) Decouples Web services and content from the content management repository, enabling customers to manage content independently; 3) Provides common Web services and Web 2.0 interfaces to dramatically simplify application development; 4) Is development platform and language agnostic; and 5) Supports composite application development and mash-up “on the glass” by the business or IT analyst.
